You have to work for fame
In Delicious: Emily's Taste of Fame, fame doesn't come instantly. You have to work for it. As the game starts up, we're shown Emily's cooking show, complete with a massive audience. It looks like Emily really has made it. But after a minute or so, we're taken back to one month earlier.
Emily and her friend have crashed their car into a road sign and don't have enough money to get it towed. Fortunately for her, the nearby diner is run by a sweet old lady who offers to let Emily work for to earn the money. And off we go in this fun time management game.
Making food
Anyone who has ever stepped foot in a restaurant - which I assume is everyone reading this - will have no problem understand the basics of how a diner is run. A customer comes up to the counter with an order. You give them what they want and then deposit their money in the register. With me so far? Good!
Certain orders are more complicated than others. Some customers only want a bottle of soda. That's easy! Just pour the soda and hand it to them. But over time, your customers will get more picky, your orders will get more complex, and you'll start concocting delicious burgers and other high quality foods. It never gets too difficult, but it does get a lot harder than simply pouring a soda.
The variety of the orders keeps the gameplay from getting repetitive and boring. Just like working in a real diner, you dread the customers that have big, convoluted orders, and you whisper a silent "thank you" when they want nothing more complicated than a soda pop or a donut. The action stays fresh and fast paced, which is exactly how I like it.
A clean diner is a happy diner
Just because a customer is gone, don't think that your job is over. You'll have to clean up after them by collecting their dishes and wiping down their tables, or new customers won't want to sit there. There may not be an in-game health department, but that's no excuse to let everything fall apart.
Patience is a virtue, for some people
The longer your customers have to wait, the angrier they get. Upset customers give lousy tips and some of them even leave the diner. You'll be giving your wrist and clicking finger a workout, but make sure you're speedy with your service. You can also hire an entertainer to keep those customers in line happy while they wait for you.
Speed is important here and it's a lot of fun trying to do everything at once. While your on-screen avatar may be getting stressed, you'll have a blast trying to keep up with everyone.
Order up!
Delicious: Emily's Taste of Fame may not bring anything new to the table, but it's a whole lot of fun. In the end, that's all that really matters. If you're looking for good way to waste time, this game will do just fine.
