Rise and Shine

Farm Mania takes a young woman out of the city and puts her to work on a country farm with successful results. While Anna's sister may not want to spend her Summer working on her grandfather's farm, Anna herself feels obligated to help out. Gramps is getting too old to do this on his own. So with the help of your grandfather, and a young man named Johnny who can use his bike to haul produce to the market, you set out to turn your grandfather's farm around.

Rinse and Repeat

While the tasks in Farm Mania might seem a bit tedious, they successfully replicate the feeling of working on a farm and with that, you get quite a bit of satisfaction! I've never felt more productive just from sitting in front of my computer.

The process is simple. Once you plant a seed, you'll have to water it, weed it, pick it, and then place it in the bicycle's basket so that Johnny can take it to town and sell it. Your grandfather will help you with the water; simply click on him and he'll start pulling it up from the well. It's all about teamwork.

A Variety of Produce

At the start of the game, all you have to plant is pumpkins. This soon changes however, as you begin to expand with the money that you make. As soon as you sell a few pumpkins at the market, you'll have enough money to buy some cabbage seeds. As time goes on, you'll increase your inventory even more, adding things like watermelon.

No Golden Eggs Here!

You'll be harvesting more than just crops! You'll also be raising animals, so that you can milk cows, shear sheep, and collect goose eggs. Before you know it, you're actually running a pretty substantial business.

Does Strongbull Also Give You Wings?

You can upgrade all aspects of your operation, including Anna herself. One of the ways to do this is by giving her a can of Strongbull, a clever parody of a well-known energy drink. This will allow Anna to move faster.

Not All Animals Are Good

While you have no human opposition to contend with, you will get a few pesky critters looking to ruin your fun. Crows will come to tear your crops apart, so you need to be quick to click on them to scare them away. Rabbits will also invade your farm, looking for a snack. Click on a rabbit to scare it away temporarily, but click it several times to get rid of it for good.

The inclusion of these troublesome animals is a welcome addition, as it keeps you on your toes!

A Golden Harvest

Farm Mania features some of the best farming simulation gameplay I've come across, and there are a lot of good quality products out there, so that's saying quite a bit. And helping Gramps build his farm up to something special really makes you feel good! Even if farming isn't your thing, you just might enjoy this one.
