Building hotels
Hotel Mogul is about exactly what you would expect - building hotels. You're the director of business development for the Golden Company. I'm not in the business, umm, business so I don't know exactly what that means, but I can tell you that you'll be building plenty of hotels.
Let me help you get started
If you're like me, you know nothing about building hotels. Luckily, the game kicks off with a really helpful tutorial. You'll start out small - and I mean really small - by building tiny campgrounds. But before long, you'll be building massive hotels that you can really be proud of.
No fooling around
Hotel Mogul doesn't have much of a story to it. It's not entirely without one, but it takes a major backseat to the gameplay. While some would see that as a negative, I prefer to jump right into the action, and I was able to do that here. I fired up the game, typed my name in, and was instantly building stuff in the tutorial. It's not easy to keep my attention, but this product certainly did.
Can't build without materials
All the money in the world won't help you if you don't have the proper building materials. You'll have to purchase them before you can build anything. Fortunately, you purchase all of them at once, instead of having to purchase all the different materials separately.
You also have to think about who's going to build everything. You have a limited number of workers, so while you can build things simultaneously, you're limited by the number of workers you have.
Raking in the dough
In order to be successful, you'll need to make a lot of money. You don't have to run the businesses themselves, thankfully, but you do need to build really nice, high quality hotels. You'll start out small, like I mentioned above, but as your income increases you can put more money into upgrading your hotels. Each time you upgrade one, it'll pull in more money.
It's not a difficult process, but watching it in action is pretty amazing. You get to see yourself go from dinky little campsites to full-blown mega hotels. It's a sight to behold and the feeling of satisfaction is immense, which is something that I really value in games.
More than just hotels
As you progress in the game, you'll be able to build more than just hotels. I know it's right there in the title, but it may get a little boring if it was that limited! You'll be able to build several commercial and service buildings, all with the intention of bringing in more people to stay at your hotels. This is a business, after all.
The business of having fun
You may have never considered building hotels to be fun, but Hotel Mogul shows that it can be. If you like business sims and similar games, then you'll probably like this. And it has a lot of depth to it that should last you a good long while.
