Fashion Never Goes Out of Style
I'm no fashion guru; far from it, actually. I have no idea what goes with what and I'm terrible at matching colors. Even so, I felt like I knew what I was doing while playing Jojo's Fashion Show. If you're fashion-handicapped such as myself, the game won't give you overnight style skills. However, it will make you feel like somebody in the clothing design business, which has to count for something. Yes, guys, I played this game. And you know what? I could design circles around you!
There are a lot of computer games marketed specifically towards women. That's something I figured out a long time ago. After unsuccessfully attempting to fight it, I conceded, and eventually learned to embrace it. Now, I'm not going to waltz through town telling people on the street what a great time I had playing a game called Jojo's Fashion Show. That would be embarrassing. But seeing as how this is the internet, I'll let it slip: this is a fun game, regardless of what gender you happen to be.
Who Are You Wearing?
When my virtual models get asked that question on the red carpet, they can proudly exclaim "Jojo Cruz!" You play as Jojo, a formerly retired fashion designer who left the scene a long time ago, only to make a triumphant return today. They used to call you the "Mistress of Mix" because of your uncanny ability to make fabulous outfits out of clashing pieces.
When you left the spotlight, your former assistant Claudio Maximo took your place and rose to the top. Lately, however, his outfits have been called "stale." Claudio has an upcoming show in New York, though, and he claims that it's going to be something special. It doesn't take a detective to see that Claudio isn't a nice guy and I think it's safe to say that he's not going to be happy with your return.
By your side is your daughter, Rosalind, who persuaded you to come out of retirement. Now you're back and it's time to show the world why you were the best.
Mix and Match
Your job is to dress your models and send them out on the runway. Each model has a style that she must adhere to and you must dress her with clothes fitting that style. Most of it is self-explanatory: things like short skirts and bikini tops are summer clothers, while wool pants and sweaters are winter clothes. As you progress, you'll unlock more styles, such as racy and modest. It will take a little while to learn the styles, but you'll be mixing and matching in no time! It's not far-fetched to think that this game might actually help you with your fashion sense!
We Have a Winner!
Don't let this game's premise turn you off. Jojo's Fashion Show is a unique and fun game that can be enjoyable for anyone, including guys. As you unlock more and more styles, the game becomes more challenging. In the end, you have a long, surprisingly deep game that's well worth the money.
