Who Lives in a Pineapple Under the Sea?
Sponge Bob Square Pants! Absorbent and yellow and porous is he. Sponge Bob Square Pants!
Easily one of the most popular cartoon characters of our era, SpongeBob SquarePants has taken on an entirely new role in this simulation game that combines his quirky sense of humor with the wildly addicting gameplay of the legendary Diner Dash series. This time around, a group of sharks want to boot SpongeBob's friends out of their establishment to build a casino, but our favorite spongey hero is here to save the day! He's prepared to put in the hours himself as a thriving water to turn a not-so-profitable restaurant into one that nearly prints money on its own!
If you've ever played a Diner Dash or Cake Mania-style game before, you should feel right at home with this offering, but there are all sorts of extras and fun goodies that make this particular title worthy of addition to your computer game library. After all, this is SpongeBob SquarePants we're talking about.
It's Hip to Be Square
The core structure of this title is very similar to Diner Dash. For those who are not as familiar with the restaurant simulation genre, here are the primary steps that you must take with each group of customers.
- Click and drag incoming customers to an available and clean table. Try to seat them so that their colors match those of the seats. This gets you bonus points.
- Wait as they look over the menu. When they are ready, they'll wave you over. Click on their table to take the order and then click to drop the order off at the kitchen.
- When the food is ready, bring it to the right table.
- Bring the check and collect the money.
- Take the dirty dishes to the dishwashing cart.
- Repeat with every set of incoming customers.
Super Absorbent... of Money, That Is
With each stage, you'll have two sets of goals. There is one goal, in terms of dollars earned, that you'll need to achieve in order to move on to the next level. This is the bare minimum. The expert goal, which is slightly more difficult to attain, results in more points, more money, and more extras to dress up your restaurant.
One excellent way to get lots of money is to perform the same action multiple times in a row. For example, take the order from every table in succession and then bring them all their food at the same time. This results in more bonus cash than if you were to take an order from table 1, bring table 1 their food, and then take an order from table 2, etc.
Keep in mind that our squishy hero can only carry two items at any given time. When sending SpongeBob SquarePants around on his duties, you can grab two sets of dishes at the same time, but no more than that. This does not affect your ability to perform the same action several times in a row, so long as you don't throw a different action into the middle.
Ready for More Hilarity?
The humor is fantastic. The soundtrack is faithful to the popular cartoon series. And the storyline -- depicted as a series of comic panels -- will keep you engaged and in stitches. This masterful creation combines the best that the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise has to offer with some of the most incredible gameplay this side of the sea.
