It Starts with a Contest
The Greenfield Islands were known as a tropical destination of choice for many people around the world, but they were unfortunately decimated by a powerful storm that swept through the area. The islands were evacuated by the government in the interest of the people's safety. The buildings were destroyed and the farms ravaged.
Now that the storm has come and gone, the islands are left in ruins. Will anyone come and restore them back to their former glory? To encourage the rebuilding of the islands, the government is hosting a very lucrative contest. People are encouraged to fix up the islands using their own resources as quickly as possible and the winner is awarded the right to lease the island for fifty years. That's a lot of money at stake! Are you up to the task?
Just a Modest Living?
When you first arrive at your chosen island, you will have nothing but a very modest plot of land that is to be converted to a viable farm. As you slowly harvest what this land can give you, you earn more money and can expand the offerings on the island. Thankfully, the main character has learned how to grow plants in a matter of seconds!
In the beginning, you make a rather modest living growing and selling tomatoes. The interface is relatively simple. Choose the tomato seeds from the bottom of the screen, click on one of the available planting areas, wait for the tomato plants to grow, grab the basket, click on the plant to harvest, and head over to the truck to ship the tomatoes away.
Some plants will need tending, of course. Remove the weeds using the provided rake and give them more water using the watering can. Working quickly, however, as this is a race against the clock and you have to fill the day's order before time runs out!
Upgrades, New Crops, New Possibilities!
The bright and colorful graphics really emphasize the tropical environment that serves as the backdrop to this game. It's happy and cheerful and you'll find that the crop selection will start to mirror this as well.
Your seemingly modest life as an island farmer may start out with just tomatoes, but you will soon be planting olives, oranges, and bananas too. Further still, you'll have to learn how to process some of these crops into olive oil and orange juice, among other commodities. You'll even have to raise some ostriches to harvest their massive eggs!
While the profits rolling in can be terribly tempting, they must be reinvested back into the island so that you can win the contest! The money is spent on upgrading your capabilities and buying new structures for the island. As you see the new houses, markets, schools and other buildings, you'll also find that the residents will start returning to the island as well. This will surely encourage the government to award you the prize, right?
An Island Paradise Once More
No one said that the work would be easy, but this is about as rewarding as it gets. A simple plot of land used for growing tomato plants quickly becomes a large commercial enterprise, transforming a ravaged and overgrown jungle into a tropical island paradise for all to enjoy. It's all up to you.
