A Fun Time

The age of computer card games has brought about countless variations of solitaire. The classic single player card game is very popular amongst people who often have downtime while they are alone. It's much more rewarding or challenging than playing poker or some other card game against a computer opponent. To continue the tradition of great games based on the classic formula, I give you Aloha Tripeaks.

As I'm sure you could guess from the title, this product has a Hawaiian theme going on. The music and imagery is very tropical, and I have to say, it's very soothing. It doesn't quite equal a trip to the islands, but it can provide for a nice mini-getaway. Aside from having a Hawaii feel to it, it will also give you factual tidbits about the Aloha State, which can be quite interesting to read.

Fun in the Sun

The way the game works is fairly simple. The cards will be arranged in some sort of pattern and you have one card at the bottom that is your draw card, just like solitaire. You must click on a card that is either one value above or one value below your draw card, and this card will transferred to that pile. Repeat this process until all of the cards are gone.

If you can't make a move with the current face up cards, click the draw button to slap down a new card at the bottom. You can only do this so many times, though, so make sure that you make every time count.

A good strategy is to go up and down on a lot of the cards. What I mean by this is that if you get a five, and you have a lot of fours and fives on the table, go four-five-four-five before you go any lower or higher, just to clear as many cards as you can.

Ace Up Your Sleeve

People have been playing cards for centuries, but let's face it: this is the digital age and things have changed. People don't ride carriages anymore, just like they don't play card games without power-ups.

The reveal power-up does just what you would expect it to do. It reveals all of the cards; in other words, it takes all of the cards that are currently face down (save for your draw card) and turns them face up. This lasts until you make your first move, so make sure you take the time to study the cards and their placement.

The fan away power-up will remove any face up card of your choosing. You don't get a lot of these, though, so make sure to use them wisely.

A Must Have For Card Fans

Anybody out there looking for a decent game to keep their attention for a while will be more than happy with Aloha Tripeaks. Anyone looking for a solid card game just found the holy grail. It presents a fun challenge that is new and creative, yet still retains the feel of solitaire.
