Gettin' Jiggy With it
In the world of computer gaming, fast-paced puzzle games like Zuma and the ever popular Diner Dash series absolutely rule the charts. Well, I don't know if there are actual charts, but what I mean is that they sell a lot. As computer games get more and more advanced, graphics get flashier and gameplay mechanics get more complex, anticipating the future gets pretty exciting. However, in the midst of this technological advancement, jigsaw puzzles still stand tall and own their fair share of the market. You wouldn't believe it, but it's true. Jigsaw puzzles, the original puzzles, aren't going anywhere anytime soon. So the next time you sit down and play your fancy little Mystery Case Files, don't forget the poor guys who pioneered this whole mess, who are now being left in the dust.
Puzzles and Animals: What Could Go Wrong?
The Super Jigsaw Puzzle series has pretty much dominated the market on products of its type. As of a matter of fact, I can't recall ever piecing together a single digital jigsaw that wasn't part of this enormous series. Not all monopolies are bad, however, as the franchise has a firm grasp on what makes a computer jigsawing experience great. Just like all of their other efforts, Adorable Animals 2 is packed to the teeth with beautiful images, fun mechanics, and a boatload of customization options.
Animals are great. We all know it, so let's just get that out of the way. Of course, this product features your usual array of dogs and cats, but you'll also see hilarious and adorable pictures of cows, meerkats, rabbits, and a whole slew of other animals. There are also more than a couple pictures of people with their pets in what amounts to some pretty fantastic photography.
A Puzzling Amount of Customization
It's not really puzzling; I just thought that was a clever pun. No, the length of which you can customize your puzzles is not puzzling, but amazing. You can change all sorts of settings from basic things like the number of pieces to more obscure things like the skew of the pieces. You can also choose one of two piece shapes: either the standard jigsaw design or a simple square. You can set piece rotation on or off and of course, with on, the difficulty scales up drastically. The scale is also something to behold, as you can go from a modest four pieces to a little under one thousand.
The Bottom Line
All in all, Super Jigsaw Puzzle: Adorable Animals 2 is a fantastic jigsaw game. If you're a fan of these sorts of things, than I recommend grabbing this one right away. However, if you've been known to despise jigsaws in the past, then I don't know if this is your cup of tea. Granted, it offers more options than the standard tabletop activity, but all I can say is give the trial version a whirl and see what happens. For myself, I know that the series definitely perked my interest where there was none before, so you never know what might happen.
