Ask anyone you know who is even a moderate computer user -anyone at all- to name a popular computer game and there's a good chance that Mahjong will come out of their mouth. Of course, the game exists in forms outside of the computer, but that's what it is arguably best known for, and that is definitely when it became the monstrous phenomenon that it is today.

You know that old saying that "things are cliche because they're true?" Well, the same goes for trends. Mahjong is an enjoyable, relaxing game that requires concentration and patience. It's a huge hit among adults, and considering it's rather simplistic gameplay, even kids can join in on the fun.

A Pleasing Look

A game about matching tiles doesn't have to look good; it's appeal lies in its gameplay. But apparently good gameplay isn't enough for these guys, as this game both looks and sounds great. The static images that make up the backgrounds look like beautiful paintings, and the animation is fluid and smooth. In options, you can choose from four different tile sets and even turn on an option to spruce the cursors up. The music is traditional Chinese fare, but it's very catchy and soothing, making for a very peaceful game. The entire package is very stress-free and serene. This game is the perfect way to relax and though I'm no doctor, I recommend this for people with high blood pressure!

Various Game Modes

Mahjong Garden To Go offers three unique games modes. Of course, there is the traditional mode, which features the popular game at arguably it's finest. Pair matching tiles until their gone. You can only select pieces that are clear on either their right or their left (or both). The puzzles are always laid out in creative and challenging patterns, with stacks going as deep as four tiles.

Garden modes plays just like traditional, except you have the use of four free cells at the bottom of the screen. These cells can hold any four tiles (that have free sides). This helps to dig through to buried pieces. This might seem like only a slight alteration in gameplay, but it really changes the whole dynamic, given that you can reach almost any tile in the game. This mode is slightly easier than traditional, and might be better for first timers.

The last mode is waterwheel. Again, the same matching mechanics apply. Only this time, by pairing up two matching arrow tiles, the entire wheel will spin. Once it's in its new position, the tiles will fall until each row hits the bottom of the play area. Needless to say, turning the wheel changes the playing field drastically.

Those looking for a good Mahjong game can stop their search. Mahjong Garden To Go offers great gameplay and stellar presentation. The three game modes will keep you playing for quite some time.
