This Ain't Old School Mahjong
Mahjong Quest takes everyone's favorite single player game and takes it to the next level. If you're looking for traditional mahjong solitaire, this game does it just as good if not better than the competition. However, if you're looking for a new twist on the game that still retains the feel of the original, than I believe we have a 'match' made in heaven.
This product offers three unique modes of play, each with their own benefits.
- Traditional: This is your traditional mahjong solitaire. Match and clear as many tiles as you can in the fastest time possible. The game makes this even more enjoyable with vibrant backgrounds and soft, catchy music. Highly recommended for those new to the world of Mahjong.
- Kwazi's Quest: This is the main game mode. Told in cute little animated cut scenes (complete with cheesy voice-overs), Kwazi was sitting outside of his hut one day (playing Mahjong no less) when three terrible dragons flew by and scorched the land, decimating everything in their path! The once beautiful countryside was turned into a smoldering, barren wasteland and Kwazi was beside himself with panic! Suddenly, a giant rat that bears a striking resemblance to Chuck E. Cheese appears from out of nowhere to tell you "Your ancestor's tiles can mend this tragic scene, if your mind becomes unclouded and your temper remains serene." So it then becomes Kwazi's Quest to travel the land, restoring it to its beautiful, lush self by completing mahjong puzzles. It makes sense, doesn't it? Complete each puzzle by uncovering the yin and yang blocks and matching them.
- Puzzle: Only serious masters need apply. Use your skills to solve this fun, challenging mahjong puzzles.
Where It's At
Traditional Mahjongg solitaire certainly has its appeal. It's been loved and adored for a long time, and you can easily see why. It's one of most fun and challenging games that you can just pick up and play. Unlike other puzzle games, it really gives your brain a workout. The amount of strategy involved really sets it apart from the rest.
Kwazi's Quest is perfect for those looking for a fun adventure mode tied together with a story. The story is simple and is admittedly a little on the cheesy side, but it works here just fine. The voiceovers add a lot; not just for the enjoyment, but also to help the overall quality of the game.
I mentioned that puzzle is suited more for the more experienced players, and I just want to restate that. Not neccessarily because puzzle is harder (though it's no walk in the park), but because it offers the player a chance to really hone their skills. It's definitely for the hardcore mahjong enthusiast.
The Ultimate Package
Mahjong Quest should suit the needs of anyone looking for some sort of mahjong experience. Traditional should satisfy the casual player, and both Kwazi's Quest and Puzzle modes are sure to hit the spot for those looking for something more. All in all, you really can't lose!
