An Important Proposition
Inspired by the classic novel of the same name written by Jules Verne, this fantastic puzzle game will take you on a journey of epic proportions. Take on the role of Phileas Fogs as he embarks on the quest to circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days. Normally, this trip would be just a challenge for the individual, but there is quite a bit at stake with this particular adventure.
You see, Phileas Fogs has taken a wager with Mr. Stuart. If Fogs manages to complete this monumental quest within the time alloted, he will be granted the post as chairman of the Reform Club, a position currently held my Mr. Stuart himself! Accompanied by his newfound French companion, Phileas Fogs will certainly have to make haste and it's up to you to help him get on his way and complete the quest! Are you up to the challenge? Will you write the history books?
Collect the Goods
Although this fantastic tale serves as the backstory to this game, the actual motions that you will undertake are pretty breathtaking and addictive themselves. With each passing day, you will be presented with a unique array of tiles with different colored gems, jewels, and relics. What you can do is swap adjacent tiles in order to form a matching set of three in a row or column. These set will then be removed from the field, and all the tiles above will come cascading down to fill the void left by the matching set.
Your goal is to bring the target pieces to the bottom of the screen, removing all the tiles that lay beneath them. This is because the target pieces can then be forged together to create something that you need for your trip. For example, these may be pieces to much needed globe, compass, or notebook. As you progress through the game, new challenges will await you and you will need to earn new items to continue the journey.
Keep in mind that these target pieces can be swapped, just as the regular tiles can, so long as the swap results in a matching row or column of three or more items. This opens up several strategies that may not be available in other puzzle games of this kind.
A Powerful Hammer Awaits
Yes, there is an incentive to forming a matching set of more than three tiles. For each matching row of four or more tiles, you accumulate a certain amount of energy for the hammer in the lower-left corner of the screen. When one level of the hammer has been filled, it gets unlocked for your use. The first level of the hammer will shatter a single tile that happens to be getting in your way. However, if you continue to accumulate energy, the ability of the hammer will improve.
The second level is a special hammer that can eliminate all tiles of a single color. Each successive level becomes more and more powerful, but bear in mind that the energy from the hammer cannot be carried over to the next stage. As such, it becomes a delicate balancing act between accumulating energy and knowing when to deploy the power of the hammer.
