I Hear Wedding Bells

I know a lot of people say it, but I really do hear wedding bells; that's because I've been playing Dream Day Honeymoon, the sequel to the ever-popular (especially with the feminine crowd) Dream Day Wedding. In this glamorous follow-up, the newly-married couple is on their dream honeymoon in beautiful paradise! It's never started just exactly where they are, but they heavily allude to it being Hawaii, complete with hula music and everything.

Any fans of the first game will immediately appreciate the similarity in tone; this really does feel like a true sequel to the original. Kudos to the developers for creating an all-new experience that feels so familiar. Bah, enough talking! Let's get to the honeymoon!

Find and Seek

Nothing says "romantic getaway" like hunting for random objects in various locations! Seriously though, you can expect the same fantastic seek and find gameplay that the previous title excelled at. Whereas in the first game, Jenny needed your help preparing for the wedding (and thus finding certain items she needed), this time around you'll have to help the newlywed find various souvenirs to bring home to friends and family.

Each level gives you a certain number of locations in which you must hunt for items on a list. After you've found everything in one place, you'll be taken back to the main level menu, which is presented as a photo album. To go to a location, simply click its photo. The presentation in this product is one of its strongest points, as it's obvious that a lot of care has gone into crafting a memorable experience.

Each location gives you a list of ten items. However, each level only requires a certain number of objects to be found, so you don't need to find every last object in every level. If you find yourself having too hard of a time finding something, simply go onto the next thing in the list.

But That's Not All

While the primary focus here might be on find and seek gameplay, there are also mini-levels to be played each time you complete a regular level. One of these little mini-games had me making matches in a game really similar to the card game concentration. While these in-between stages aren't anything to write home about, they do a fantastic job of breaking up the action and keeping it all exciting. Too many products nowadays offer one type of game mechanic that wears thin within the first hour; separating the action with a different kind of action will help prevent you from getting tiresome.

Don't Forget About the Birds

I almost forgot! In each level, you can search for special birds referred to as "birds of paradise." If you find enough, they'll unlock a special bonus! What is it? Find them all and find out for yourself!

The Honeymoon's Not Over

For fans of its predecessor, Dream Day Honeymoon is an absolute no-brainer. The charm and experience remains intact in a completely fresh and totally fun game experience. For the rest of you, I strongly urge you to give it a whirl.
