Welcome to Vegas!
This latest entry in the Dream Day series is really something special. The other games were great, of course, but now we're talking about Las Vegas, baby! That's right! You have a wedding to plan in the entertainment capital of the world.
The fantastic gameplay and clever writing have returned in full force, this time accompanied by one of the most exciting cities in the world.
Check-In
The game kicks off with a little incident - your luggage is jumbled in with some other guests' belongings. The Palladium Hotel attendant will be happy to take your stuff up to your room for you - if only you'll find it first. It's not as bad as it sounds, though. Those who are accustomed to playing PC games will know that as bad as these situations would be in real life, they end up being a lot of fun when you're playing them in a game!
A Knack for Hiding
Viva Las Vegas continues the trend of expertly crafted hidden object levels. The developers behind these games have an uncanny ability to hide items in plain sight, which makes for some really great stages. You'll spend a lot of time scouring the screen only to find that the item in question was right in front of your face all along. They're hidden well and finding them can be pretty challenging - not so much that it gets frustrating, but just enough to make it a blast to play.
Exploring
While some stages are more traditional and give you lists of items to find, a lot of them just throw you into a situation and leave you to find your own way out. After searching around a busy room, maybe you'll find a locked door. If you do, you'll have to find the key before venturing through. Too many games of this type tend to hold your hand, eliminating any challenge whatsoever. This product tests you and it makes for a more satisfying overall experience.
Sometimes you'll encounter levels inside of other levels, which is always exciting. In one instance, I accidentally locked myself in the bathroom! I then inadvertently broke the door handle and it was quite the adventure trying to get back out again. Your character is remarkably clumsy, but that seems to be a good thing for us.
Unleash Your Inner Decorator
Everyone likes to decorate at some level. Since you are a wedding planner, you will get your chance to spruce up the place at some point. After a few levels, you'll get to start decorating the wedding site, which includes picking out carpet, flowers, chairs, and much more. You'll buy these things with Palladium points, which you'll acquire throughout the game.
This is Not a Gamble
Dream Day Wedding: Viva Las Vegas is an absolute blast to play. The gameplay is both challenging and rewarding and the decorating portion is a great way to blow off steam. If you can't afford a real vacation, this should do in a pinch.
