The Girl of Your Dreams?

Normally, you could say that dreams are windows to the soul, revealing some of our inner-most hopes, intentions, and vices. It is through our dreams that we can learn much about ourselves, but for a select few, these dreams can also reveal much about the people in their lives. That is the case with the protagonist in this title.

A young girl has gone mysteriously missing in the local town and the detective assigned to the case does not appear to be working too hard on finding her whereabouts. Your grandma used to be a great investigative reporter, but now the onus falls on you to solve this case and return the young child back to safety. The curious thing is that you're starting to catch glimpses of the girl in your dreams.

Perhaps the greatest strength in Dream Sleuth is the interesting integration of the real and dream worlds, finding clues in both of these environments that can further your investigation. How can you find the girl again?

A Glimmer of Hope

Rather than facing a long list of seemingly unrelated items as you transverse your way through the town (and through your dreams), you will instead be faced with a series of logic-based puzzles. You get loads of twists and turns, as well as mind-bending challenges that will leave you scratching your head, wondering how your investigation can proceed.

For instance, one part of your investigation leads you to your grandma's quarters and you must find her old photo album so that you can organize a series of pictures. The photo album isn't out there in the open for you to find, however. You must find the tools in the scene and manipulate the environment in a logical manner to find the album.

The portions of the scene that can be altered and manipulated will get illuminated with a series of faint sparkles when you have your mouse pointer over them. When you see this, click on the glimmer and see what they can reveal.

Putting It All Together

After finding the tools that you need and the items of interest in each location, you will oftentimes be presented with yet another puzzle to solve. For instance, some of those aforementioned photos will need to be organized in some sort of logical manner, furthering your investigation and getting you that much closer to finding the young girl.

The fluid storytelling and cutscene-based conversations offer a lot to this tale, making it as if you are watching a serial television series rather than playing a computer game. You'll really be drawn into what this story has to offer.

A truly refreshing take on the hidden objects game genre, Dream Sleuth will get you to find unique items in a variety of scenes, transversing both real environments and the visions in your dreams. That said, the gameplay will feel almost like the point-and-click adventures that you may have encountered as well, solving logic puzzles so that you can proceed to the next stage.

The investigation will never be direct and obvious. You really need to use your noggin and that's precisely what will make this adventure so unique and so much fun!
