This Game is a Fabulous Find!
Sorry for the cheesy introduction, but I just couldn't help myself! Fabulous Finds is exactly what its name describes. At its core it is a hidden objects game but throw in a decorating mechanic and a yard sale simulator and you've got something truly special.
The game begins with the passing of your Aunt Bea, who wasn't an actual aunt but an important part of your life nonetheless. It isn't played out in a sad fashion, however, as your aunt had a wonderful life and eagerly awaits whatever is waiting for her on the other side.
As her final act, she left you her house. While it's a bit of a fixer upper, it has enormous potential. However, to reach that potential, you'll need money. And to get money, you'll need to have a yard sale!
Everything Must Go!
Luckily, all of the stuff that you need for your yard sales can be found in Aunt Bea's house. Before each sale you'll need to search one of the rooms for a handful of items that will sell well. The way you do this is by searching for objects that pertain to the current theme.
Before each level, you'll need to read the local newspaper to see what's going on in the neighborhood. This will tell you what the community is currently excited about and help you choose objects that will sell well!
For example, if there's a family event happening at the local park, search for things that babies and young children will enjoy. You aren't given a list of what to look for, you just need to use your own judgment.
Searching On Your Own
Searching without a list to go off of can be a little challenging. Luckily, if you hover your mouse cursor over an item, a little blurb will pop up informing you of what it is. This is great for those items that are a little too small to make out.
Some items are incomplete. While these will still sell, you won't get as much money for them. People aren't going to fork over a lot of cash for a light without a bulb or a wheelbarrow without a wheel! Find these missing objects to restore them and complete the item.
Making a Sale
The way the actual yard sale plays out is quite a bit like a hidden objects game itself. Each customer comes with a little card telling you what he or she is looking for. Find out what they want, find the customer, and then drag them to the item to make a sale. The hints are pretty straightforward, but they won't just give it away.
Is a guy looking for a way to haul rocks? He could use a wheelbarrow! Luckily we found the wheel!
Three Games In One
Calling Fabulous Finds three games might be a little generous, as decorating isn't necessarily a game, but using the money you get from your yard sales to spruce up your house sure is fun! And it's just another reason to purchase this fantastic game!
