A Real Treasure
Never having played the original Fiber Twig, Fiber Twig 2 has to be one the most original and creative games I have seen in a long time. It features a fantastic presentation in a wonderful fantasy setting, as well as some of the most uniquely addictive gameplay that I've come across. For those looking for something new, look no further.
The core gameplay involves you connecting "twigs" in an effort to complete the pattern on-screen, which has been partially destroyed by a hurricane. You'll scroll vertically up a level as you fill in the gaps, completing the level once everything has been repaired. The pieces at your disposable scroll across the bottom of the screen on a conveyor belt. If you neglect to use too many twig fragments, they'll eventually pile up, resulting in you losing the round. To try and save yourself, you can dispose of pieces one at a time, or crush several pieces with your character's weapon.
Man, Woman, and Beast
You can choose one of three characters at the beginning of the game, each with their own set of attributes. These characters are the knight, the enchantress, and the goblin. It's not very often that an online puzzle game offers these kinds of choices, and it only helps make Fiber Twig 2 a much deeper and satisfying experience. You will find yourself deeply immersed in a matter of minutes, and you'll have to struggle to come back out of it. This is what I want from a game, and this one delivers with flying colors.
Everyone Hates Their Boss
No one likes their boss, or any boss for that matter, and these are no different. These bosses are mean and brutal, and they will stop at nothing to ruin your chances of victory. At the very best, they will destroy precious twigs - at the worst, your very soul. Well, maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but these foes don't pull any punches and make for one heck of an experience.
After each level, you will have the opportunity to upgrade one of seven various skills, all of which effect different aspects of gameplay. The ability to further customize the game in this regard is nothing short of amazing. The infinite possibilities warrant multiple playthroughs, each time focusing on different skills. Where you once went for speed, you might be tempted to try power on your next adventure. This is where the game truly shines and you begin to see how much time and effort went into it.
Fantasy Come True
Fiber Twig 2 is a fantastic game that delivers on every level and more. The action is fast-paced and addictive, and the bosses are sure to give you a run for your money. The multitude of skills available will have you constantly experimenting, trying to create the perfect twig-dropping warrior. Those looking for something really fun and immersive to sink their teeth into can stop looking, as I guarantee that you will more than satisfied with this gem.
