Merry Fishmas!

Just in time for the holidays, Fishdom, the lovable aquatic simulation series, brings us its own holiday treat, Fishdom: Frosty Splash. This isn't a new trend for the series, either. Fans will remember their frightening Halloween offering, Spooky Splash. This time around the aquariums are festive and bright and full of holiday cheer, and as a result, so am I! The holidays are the best time of the year and what better way to celebrate them than by hunkering down in front of the computer and spending time in an underwater winter wonderland?

These are special bulbs!

Right off the bat, Fishdom: Frosty Splash charmed the pants off me with its hilarious premise. All of the tanks are bursting with decorations, even Christmas lights, and this is all underwater! It's both heartwarming and hilarious to see such a brilliant (if not impossible) display of Christmas decorations at the bottom of a fish tank; complete with swimming fish!

It's the season to be jolly, and that's exactly what this game is going for. It's hard to play and not have a huge grin stretched across your face, and that happiness is the game's greatest strength.

Fish Care 101

It's not all fun and games, but most of it is. Your fish won't always be as happy as you are unless you take good care of them. There's a lot more to this than just filling your tank with underwater life. Empty, barren houses would be bleak and depressing, and the same goes for fish tanks.

There are three meters that you need to fill up: fish, beauty, and comfort. The first is obviously filled up by dropping all kinds of life into your tank. And the meter being labeled "fish" is somewhat misleading, as you'll be buying other types of creatures as well.

Your pets need to be comfortable and they need to be happy. Fill up the comfort meter by buying accessories that they need, such as air pumps. The accessories all come in different festive designs and, like all of the meters, the pricier products will fill it up more.

Even if your aquatic denizens are plentiful and comfortable, they can get bored. Combat this by adorning the tank with all sorts of plants and decorations. This being a holiday themed game, most decorations match that theme, so you'll have gingerbread men, snow-covered trees, and lit-up houses.

Moving on up

Once you fill all of the meters, you'll be rewarded with a bronze trophy. From here, you can choose whether to keep shooting for fancier trophies or move on to a new tank. However, to move onto a new tank, you must first purchase one.

Money matters

Did you ever wonder how you buy all of these things in the game? You need money, and you get money by playing the match-3 game. The game is simple and just involves matching symbols to clear tiles. Play it as often as you like to build up a lot of cash.
