Who Ya Gonna Call?
They might not be the ghostbusters, but the Ghost Hunters definitely shouldn't be taken lightly. They explore the scariest, most terrifying hauntings around. They face their fears and bravely face the darkness, looking for wandering spirits and getting to the very bottom of paranormal matters. Sound spooky? That's because it is. The Ghost Hunters perform tasks that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. And guess what? You're their newest recruit.
That's right. You are now an official seeker of souls and you get to prove yourself by investigating a haunted mansion all by your lonesome. Viola Majesty is having a slight problem in her big old house and she's turned to the organization for help. You better give it your all, because you don't want to let these people down, do you?
You'll hear creepy noises, the ticking of non-existent clocks, and the voices and murmurs of people that left this world a long time ago. Do you think you're up to the challenge? Well you better be, because there's no going back now.
These Ghosts Aren't Friendly
Ghost Hunters abides by the old find and seek gameplay formula. You'll explore room after room, scouring every square inch until you find every item on your list. These types of games are very popular and for a very good reason: they're extremely fun.
Your objective here is to figure out whether or not Viola has an actual ghost problem or if somebody is just playing tricks on here. In each level, you're given rooms to explore and lists of items to find. Once you fill your item quota - you aren't required to find every item - you'll have narrowed it down to another suspect.
Like I said, you don't have to find every item, but if you do, you'll get a pretty nice chunk of bonus points.
Spooky? You bet!
I was absolutely blown away by the atmosphere in this products. The noises - the clock ticks, the voices, the water drops - all make for a very, very unsettling atmosphere. I very rarely get scared, and while I wouldn't say that I was chilled to the bone or anything that dramatic, I was definitely feeling a little spooked. The stillness of the game really adds to the tension; you can't help but think that something is going to jump out at you at any moment.
I've already covered how fantastic the sound is, and the graphics are too shabby either. They're pretty standard, and truthfully, the majority of the game is shown as static images, but they work well enough and combined with the sound, they make a pretty nice presentation.
There are very few game storylines that I actually care about, but I found myself becoming more and more interested in the plot as I got further into the game. Once your list of suspects starts to take shape, you'll find yourself trying to guess who's really behind it all.
But Is It Worth Your Time?
If you're a fan of these types of games, you'll find a lot to love in Ghost Hunters. The creepy atmosphere is worth the price of admission alone.
