Under The Sea...
A wise crustacean once told me that life was better under the sea. It turns out that he was right! Hawaiian Explorer Pearl Harbor takes you on a breathtaking journey across the world, to the bottom of the seas and back up again. You're working for an elderly man named Charlie Johnson, an eccentric millionaire with a taste for adventures and a bigger taste for treasures. He's discovered artifacts from all around the world and he has no plans of stopping anytime soon. He's discovered the existence of the famous "diamond medal," a flawless diamond that is over 800 years old. According to the legend, it's been missing from Japan for over two decades. Charlie's interest is definitely peaked.
After years of searching with no results, Charlie finally seemed to find an actual lead. The diamond supposedly wound up in Hawaii, where it was being transported on a cruise ship that was lost in a storm just outside of Pearl Harbor. How it got halfway across the world, nobody knows, but this is too good of an opportunity to pass up!
This is where you come in. You're one of the best divers that the state of Hawaii has to offer and you've just been hired to find some treasure! Good luck!
Treasure Hunting
It only makes sense that this game features find-and-seek gameplay. After all, you are searching for lost artifacts! The thing that immediate stood out to me upon playing Hawaiian Explorer for the first time is the challenging, take-no-prisoners type of gameplay. You don't have very much time to find the objects on each level and every wrong click you make takes even more precious seconds. Now, it's nothing new for a game to penalize frequent wrong clicks, but penalizing each and every one? That makes all the difference in the world. If you've played your fair share of these types of puzzlers, this might be the challenge you've been looking for.
Audio and Visuals
This title features nice, soothing music and effective sound effects, but where it really shines is in the graphics department. The environments all look photo realistic and they're animated very nicely. Oftentimes fish and other sea creatures will swim by and add a nice touch of realism to the game. Visuals really matter in a game where you have to pinpoint things with your eyes and they've really excelled in that department. This is find-and-seek at it's best.
Jackpot!
If you've been doing a little treasure hunting yourself, you just may have found it! Hawaiian Explorer Pearl Harbor is an excellent find-and-seek game that's refreshingly difficult. The story is decent, but the main focus is on the gameplay, which will have you clicking away for hours. The actual game is pretty lengthy, but what adds to that is the amount of times you'll have to retry each level. This game is hard, but don't let that frighten you! Use it for your own benefit and hone your seeking skills to become the master! Other, easier games don't stand a chance!
