The return of Will Scout and Anna Lyze
Everyone's second famous explorer team (I have to give Lewis & Clark their due) is back for their third adventure in Hide & Secret 3: Pharaoh's Quest. Will Scout and Anna Lyze have taken on the villainous Jacques to recover the Treasure of the Ages, they've turned Camelot into a Museum, and even talked to the legendary wizard Merlin, but can they reunite two ancient lovers?
A bit of fun
If the plot sounds a little silly, that's because it is. The Hide & Secret series has always been about fun, tongue-in-cheek adventures and the third installment is no different.
Beginning in Ancient Egypt, the Pharaoh and Queen were supposed to be together for all eternity. Unfortunately, tomb robbers showed up and stole the magic amulets that kept their spirits united, ruining everything. The amulets have been scattered across the globe for ages, but now Will and Anna have a chance to bring them back and reunite these two ancient love bugs.
It can be classified as a love story, but it's full of enough silly humor that guys will enjoy it just as much as women.
A narrated journey
Anna Lyze will narrate the adventure as you go and instruct you on what you need to do. While it's not the best voice acting I've ever heard, it's better than a boring block of text and the effort that went into it is definitely appreciated.
Weird items
It's rare, but some hidden objects games only have you search for items that relate to the story. In most games, you'll be searching for everyday household objects that are just completely random, and it doesn't make much sense. Hide & Secret 3 is neither of those games. The items you search for here are so nonsensical that you know it's on purpose. I found a disco ball in the sky and sushi hidden in a plant. Whoever designed this game had a pretty great sense of humor.
You'll usually find at least one item that will come in handy. I usually think it's a little lame when you have to search for so many useless objects when only one has a purpose, but here I think it's pretty funny. It's almost like you're just rounding up a bunch of junk and seeing what you can make use of.
Pyramid Puzzles
After searching through a few areas, you'll get to play a few mini-games. The first one I played was a simple jigsaw puzzle. It was fun enough and it was a nice easy break after the fairly difficult hidden objects stages. If you're doing really bad at a mini-game, you can skip it once so much times has passed.
Another great adventure
If you've played any of the other Hide & Secret games, then you know what kind of quality to expect here. If you haven't, you don't need to worry about order, this is as good a spot as any to jump into a really well done series.
