Ah, Lemonade Tycoon takes me back to the good old days. My days of being irresponsible and carefree were cut short when I started my lemonade business. Then I had to start worrying about marketing my business effectively and setting a price range that was profitable yet didn't scare business away. I could no longer go out and play with my action figures. I was playing with the big dogs now.
It's not very often you get to play a game as deep and immersive as Lemonade Tycoon 2: New York Edition. If you were at all a fan of the first one, you will be absolutely amazed at the amount of depth that they added in the sequel. You're no longer running a simple business; you are establishing a foothold for your refreshment empire.
Business 101
You have many choices to make when it comes to running your own company and fortunately it's all very simple and accessible thanks to the game's clean, easy-t0-use interface. You'll have three tabs. One tab will show you a map of New York with all of the districts that you can open stands in. Another tab will show you more detail information about each district, as well as let you control each stand; this is the tab where you'll spend most of your time. Finally, the last tab will show you your financial report as well as several other statistics.
You have a surprising amount of control, which is quite daunting at first. To start off, you'll have to order enough stock to last throughout the day, but not too much that some will go to waste. Then you'll have to choose how much lemons, sugar, and ice cubes go into your recipe. Nailing down a solid recipe is key to maintaining good business, but when you first start, it'll have to be trail and error. Lastly, you'll have to set a price for each cup. You don't want to overcharge your customers but you definitely don't want to lose money, either. Weather will play a big role in this, as hot customers will be willing to pay more for a cup of cold lemonade.
The three decisions that I listed above are just the tip of the iceberg. Soon after you start, you'll have to invest in marketing, location, and upgrades that will help your business run smoother. Oh, and for Pete's sake, get a calculator! Having your employees count change with their fingers takes far too long!
Move Over, Donald Trump.
Pretty soon, you'll be a business guru on your way to financial stardom. By far the best thing about Lemonade Tycoon 2 and the series in general is that you really do gain some business smarts. For a simple computer game, this is a pretty realistic simulation and time spent playing definitely isn't time wasted. It's very rare that you can actually walk away from a computer feeling that you've bettered yourself in some way.
One of A Kind
There aren't many games out there like Lemonade Tycoon 2. The possibilities are endless and you're in for one heck of a challenge. If you can survive in the lemonade business, you can survive almost anywhere.
