Everyone's Favorite Investigator

If you could name but a single detective who was greater than all the rest, Sherlock Holmes would easily rank among the top of the pack. The fictional investigator serves as the source of many of our favorite sayings and everyone, even if they have never read the actual stories themselves, is familiar with the character, along with some of the related characters like Dr. John Watson and Professor James Moriarty.

In this particular game, you get take on the role of the legendary detective as he investigates a series of unique case. Naturally, you will have "my dear Watson" along to help you as well. These stories were somehow lost in the mix, but they offer a terrific expansion on the fantastic series. The names of the cases are quite telling of what you may be able to expect from his hidden objects game.

From The Death Card Devil to The Vanishing Actress, you can be sure to expect some fantastic environments to perform your investigations. Better still, the hidden objects actually make sense for the given context, unlike some other titles where you seeking out a police cruiser inside of a kitchen for no reason in particular. With The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes, everything makes sense and gets you a little closer to solving the case.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Would Be Proud

Perhaps the single greatest feature to this particular game, the feature that will set it apart from the countless others in the casual game market, is the fantastic storytelling. You actually want to find out what happens after each stage and each segment along the way actually adds to the progress of the tale. You find out a little more about each case as you make your way through, getting that much closer to a possible conclusion. What will you be able to deduce for the smallest of evidence?

The wide variety of cases will also keep you captivated for hours on end. Each case, presented as a book in a library, is highly unique and original. The bulk of the story is told through the eyes of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as they emerge on the screen and have several conversations. The animations aren't going to floor you, but they are perfectly suited to the genre. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the original author and creator of the Sherlock Holmes series, would be proud of this creation.

Variety Beyond Seek and Find

The majority of the work done by Sherlock Holmes in this game will sound pretty familiar. He must take out his magnifying glass and seek out a series of hidden objects within a particular scene. To get a closer look at the finer details of the area, you can try right-clicking using your mouse. This amplifies the magnifying glass so that you can get a zoomed in view.

That said, you will encounter a number of different mini-games along the way as well. These aid you in your investigation and help you collect more clues. You may need to compare two seemingly identical scenes and seek out their differences. You may have to reconstruct a broken set of jewels to determine their owner. His methodology may be unorthodox, but it works for Sherlock.

It may be elementary, my dear Watson, but it's a fun challenge too.
