A lost chapter in history

The Lost Inca Prophecy tells a tale that has been lost in history. It's about a librarian named Acua, a young woman who has a passion for books and knowledge. She's always been a dreamer, but one night those dreams of adventure came true.

She touched a strange book and it started to glow. It was written in an ancient language, but for some unknown reason she could read it fine. It told the story of a peaceful world that Acua had dreamed about since she was young.

As soon as she was done reading, she fell fast asleep and once again began dreaming of the land in the book. When she awoke, a map had been drawn on what had been a blank page. Following the map, her and a Conquistador friend of hers, Juan De Salcedo, head off to this land.

That was a long intro, but I wanted you to understand how I got so wrapped up in the story. It's not complex, in fact it's pretty simple, but the way it's told is very entertaining and almost magical. By the time I got into the game, I was already completely engaged.

Scattered pieces

Sometimes you'll only be searching for a few objects, but they'll have been broken into pieces and scattered, so it's not easy. It's actually quite a bit more difficult than most games, because finding small pieces of an item is a lot trickier than finding the entire thing. I spent a good amount of time looking for the wooden handles of certain tools.

Fortunately, the game is pretty generous with hints. You have unlimited uses, but you have to wait for the hint bubble to fill back up before you can use another one. That doesn't take very long, though.

The right tool for the job

Most items that you find can be used in one way or another. After you find all of the pieces, it will automatically reassemble, at which point you can click on it and move your cursor across the screen, trying to spot where it can be used. It's all pretty obvious stuff, like using a pick ax to clear away some rocks.

Chain mini-game

Every so often you'll play a matching mini-game. At first I was a little disappointed because I thought this was a standard swapping match-3 game. I enjoy those types of games, but I see them a little too often. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this used a chaining mechanic. You must click a symbol and drag a chain across all adjacent matching symbols. It's not too different than a generic match-3, but it's different enough to be refreshing.

A tale worth telling

The Lost Inca Prophecy is a fun, challenging game backed by strong, rich storytelling. The story is well written and the characters are fleshed out and likable, which makes it a lot of fun to follow. Overall it's a very well done game that I highly recommend.
