Mystery Case Files Does it Again!
If you're anything of a computer gamer, you've no doubt heard of the Mystery Case Files series. The MCF games are some of the best - if not the best - hidden objects games available. They're known for their fun, addictive gameplay, their rich, detailed characters, and their intriguing and well-written storylines. The newest installment, Mystery Case Files: Madame Fate, has been released and I can safely say it does not disappoint!
This latest installment in the popular series takes place at an early 1900s carnival run by a fortune teller named Madame Fate. It seems the Madame has read her own fortune and learned that someone is going to take her life at the stroke of midnight! It turns out that she's not too popular around the carnival and there are a lot of employees that wouldn't mind seeing her done away with. Since everyone of her employees seems to have motive, Madame Fate will have to turn to her crystal ball to help her figure out who wants to off her - and stop it from happening.
Madame Fate has enlisted your unparalleled detective skills in finding the culprit and protecting her from certain doom. You'll have to bring her possessions of each and every worker at the carnival so that she can use those objects to gaze into their future and discover where they'll be at midnight - the hour of her death.
Sleuth It Up
As the master detective that you are, you'll head to various locations around the carnival and hunt for various objects. You'll be given a list of items to find in each locale; usually about ten items each. Some stages lead to other, smaller stages. For example, when searching the carnival entrance, there are also ten items that need to be found inside the ticket booth. Hidden objects gameplay is simple, requiring only your mouse and a good pair of eyes. When you find an object on your list, click on it to claim it. Once you've found all of the items in a certain stage, you're free to move to the next.
Each stage also has a special morphing item that can be found. Find enough of these to unlock special bonus events that can be accessed via the level select screen!
After you've found the required amount of objects in a level, you'll have to solve one final puzzle in order to learn the whereabouts of the lackey that you're currently investigating. These puzzles share no specific them and can include any sort of matching or arranging. They're very well done and can actual be really, really challenging.
Case Closed: Madame Fate is a Winner!
Fans of the Mystery Case Files series will be more than happy with how Madame Fate has turned out. It brings back the same great gameplay and introduces a fantastic new story. There's a reason why the MCF series has been dominating the hidden objects genre and this latest installment is a great reminder!
