Enter the Quiet Town of Sleepy Hollow
By day, the town of Sleepy Hollow is just as relaxed and timid as any other small town. The village is filled with sunshine and the townspeople can go about their daily business without a care in the world. After the sun sets each evening, however, we get a completely different story.
It can be horrid and dreadful with that incessant moaning, creating quite the creepy atmosphere. That's when the famed headless horseman roams the village in search of his lost head, ravaging anything (and anyone) that stands in his path. You do not want to be in his way when he's riding on that horse.
This is where we find ourselves in this wonderfully haunting adventure, creeping through the various areas of Sleepy Hollow, looking for clues to solve the town's scary mystery. Introduced to one villager at a time, like Old Brower, we must seek the truth while avoiding the violent specter. He can be elusive, but this also means that he can sneak up on you at any moment.
Not for the Feint of Heart
With gnarled branches and an unearthly atmosphere, the village of Sleepy Hollow makes for quite the horrifying place. As you proceed through the town, you can sense the brooding air and the dreadful sounds of the night. The dark visuals add to this effect, so this game is clearly not for the easily frightened. There can be some strange sound effects at random moments in the game, just as there would be in a great horror film.
Further still, novices to the hidden objects genre of casual games may be slightly overwhelmed by the level of difficulty involved in this title. The stages are remarkably detailed with photo-like realism, so finding the smallest of target items can be quite hard. This is utterly fantastic for veterans of the genre, however, because they will find the increased challenge to be quite refreshing.
To help you along the way, you are provided with a limited number of hints. Access these by clicking on you chosen target item and it will be circled in the scene. You may also oft for the clock-free relaxed mode over the timed mode for greater ease.
What's that Sparkle in the Corner?
As if the creepy hidden objects adventure weren't enough to send a chill down your spine, there are also a number of mini-games embedded here as well. Rather than taking place between stages, their entry points are actually within the stages themselves. If you see a small sparkle on the screen, try clicking on it. You may be temporarily transferred to a new area where you may be tasked with completing puzzles or matching items.
A Thoroughly Frightening Delight
If you are looking for something that goes bump in the night, providing you with a fantastically great scare, this quest just may be the right one for you. The timeless tale of the headless horseman and the moody atmosphere of Sleepy Hollow are sure to delight any horror fan. You may pull up a seat, but you'll only need the edge... before you jump out of it!
