The Return of the Mad Monk?
Very few personalities have captivated the world's interest in quite the same way as Rasputin. Known widely as the Mad Monk, he was the well-respected and trusted confidante of Russia's last royal family. Tsar Nicholas II and his family relied on the mystic for many of his incredible powers, but Rasputin ultimately fell to a very unfortunate demise. Well, he's back.
Even though nearly a hundred years have passed since Rasputin's death, he still has an incredible impact to this day. In fact, his descendents could face quite the curse and this is a lesson that is being learned by Lora. She has just discovered that her lineage connects to Rasputin. Where could her research lead her?
A Cluttered, but Sensical Environment
The marriage between Mark and Lora has clearly seen better days, so they thought that taking a trip together could rekindle their interest in one another. Lora knew about her Russian heritage, but she did not know that she was related to Rasputin! She must now make her way to St. Petersburg to learn more about this connection, but she has to be careful about each step that she takes too!
Featuring an incredibly frightening voiceover and a musical score that will send chills down your spine, this game also does a fantastic job of keeping the action as relevant as possible. In some other titles, you may find yourself searching for elephants on the beach. With this one, you get objects that make sense.
The environments may be incredibly cluttered, but the objects are logical inclusions in these stages. For instance, when looking to clean up her house before heading on her trip, Lora is tasked to find such items as her passport, a suitcase, and a baseball glove. In like manner, a visit to the doctor's office reveals a tongue depressor, syringe, and sthethoscope.
Look Out for Changing Colors
While there is no timer to speak of in this particular challenge, that's not to say that the adventure is easy! In addition to the items that are in plain view, so to speak, you will also find that you can interact with certain items in each stage. Some of these interactions are useful, whereas others are mere distractions.
For example, you may have to find an item inside of a cupboard. If you watch your mouse cursor carefully, you'll see it alternate between two colors if you hover over something that can be clicked on. Click on the cupboard and it may open. On the flip side, you may also be able to click on the sink faucet to turn on the water. That's not as useful, but can be a fun Easter egg.
