In 1888 London, there was a mysterious man who lurked in the shadows, leaving dead bodies in his wake. Due to his signature killing style and the way the female corpses were "processed" each time, this man came to be known as Jack the Ripper. Do you have it in you to reopen these cases and determine the true identity of Jack the Ripper?

It is with that intention in mind that you embark on an epic investigation into the five known murders attributed to Jack the Ripper. From Mary Anne Nichols to Mary Jane Kelly, Scotland Yard was never able to bring someone to justice. But you can. Armed with a keen eye, an iron stomach, and the ability to piece together a complicated puzzle, you can determine the identity of Jack the Ripper once and for all.

All Sorts of Sharp Objects

No one said that the investigation would be an easy one. After all, you are looking into five of the most brual killings that the London East End had ever seen. This grim and frightening environment is filled with the sounds of screaming women and clanking metal. The dark atmosphere in this game is truly astounding, especially with the brooding environment that the soundscape creates.

Traveling through places like Buck's Row, you will have to seek out some clues that can point you toward the true identity of Jack the Ripper. Why would a barber, for example, need to have a surgical knife? Does Jack have intricate medical knowledge? Why is it that one location seems filled to the brim with all sorts of sharp weapons? From razors to sickles, scythes to cleavers, they are all possible murder weapons.

Further still, you'll notice that the developers have paid a great deal of attention to detail. Even your standar mouse pointer has been replaced with a scary-looking dagger. The blood trail thickens.

A Very Careful Investigation

While you are provided with a number of free hints as you arrive at each of the points of interest during your investigation, these are not enough to get you through the adventure. You will need a very sharp eye to pinpoint the location of each of the clue items on your list.

There are two modes available to you as well. With Rookie Mode, you can have as much time as you'd like to find all the hidden objects on your list. This is the best game mode for beginners and for people who want a more relaxed approach. However, more advanced players who are seeking a greater challenge will want to experience Detective Mode.

As you successfully click and find each of the items on your list, more time will be added to your clock. However, every click made in error results in an immediate deduction. Random clicking around the possible crime scene is hardly appropriate.

The Dark Atmosphere of Whitechapel

Few serial killers achieved the same kind of notoriety as Jack the Ripper. He may have "only" killed five female prostitutes, but the nature of the murders is truly disturbing. A man like this cannot be left unpunished.
