What Makes a Kill Righteous?
Righteous Kill is a 2008 thriller starring Hollywood legends Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro in what is only their second film together. The film is set to be a tense, atmospheric thrill ride and the game is following right along in its footsteps.
You play as Officer Dean, a young female cop who has just been assigned to a unit specializing in taking down armed citizens with hero complexes - otherwise known as vigilanties. There are people in this world who like to play Batman and it's up to you to put them away before they hurt anyone.
On The Hunt For Clues
Part of your job as a police offer will be to investigate crime scenes and search for clues. You'll scouring New York City, picking up evidence all over the place, all the while closing in on your suspect. In each level you'll have 15 items to find. These can all be different objects, but often you'll also be required to find multiple instances of a certain object - for example, three spoons. Just like a real police officer making a case, you'll be racing against the clock, so time is not on your side.
Every few levels you'll have to complete a special round, which can include anything from piecing together a torn newspaper to dusting for fingerprints.
Searching Tips
If you get stumped looking for a certain object, you can always use your UV flashlight to have a random item from your list pointed out for you. The flashlight has unlimited uses, but it has to recharge after each time. Each level has at least a couple scenes for you to dig through, in any order you want. While searching through a scene, simply click the "Map" button to be transported back to the map, where you can check out a different location. If you're having a lot of trouble in one place, it's a good idea to take a breather and check out somewhere else for a while.
Another thing to keep in mind is that, despite the normal rules of a hidden objects game, there is no penalty here for wrong clicking. You can make random clicks all over the place for as long as you want and never get docked any time or receive any sort of punishment at all. However, you'll more than likely be wasting your time. While it seems tempting to just click everywhere and hope for the best, you'll run out of time long before you find everything. That said, if you can't tell what something is, don't be afraid to take a chance and click on it! You never know!
A Wild Ride
Righteous Kill is a well-written, entertaining adventure that will suck you in before you know it. The characters are well fleshed-out, the dialogue is sharp and realistic, and the plot is nail-biting. The game play is everything that you would expect from a hidden objects game - fun, creative, and addictive. I absolutely recommend this product to any fan of crime fiction or hidden objects games. And if the game is any indication, the movie is going to be a blast!
