Stop the Coming of Eternal Winter
The possessor of the magical artifacts controls the changing of the seasons and, as such, it is incredibly important that these artifacts remain well-protected. Unfortunately, brother January has stolen the entirety of the artifact collection and he is threatening to keep the world in an eternal winter. It is not up to you to confront January and recover the numerous artifacts. It's time to stop shivering and bring about the coming of spring.
Tipping the Scales in Your Favor
In order to retrieve each of the artifacts, you will have to go through several steps. Thankfully, April will be there to guide you every step of the way. Arriving at each stage, you will be presented with a unique grid of different jewels and gems. It is also on this grid that the artifact will be frozen in place.
The artifact is being protected by a forest guard, as deployed by Old October, an angrier being who has allied with January to ensure eternal winter. To oust the forest guard, you must tip the scales in your favor. This is done by clicking on groups of three or more identical gems. These gems will then cascade to the scale near the bottom of the screen. Upon collecting enough of these jewels, the forest guard will be defeated and you will be free to complete the stage. Your jewel goals are posted near the top of the screen.
Some of the tiles on the screen may have their jewels locked in stone or some other restraining material. To crack this material, you will need to clear the jewels that surround it and within it. For many of the stages, one of your goals is to completely clear the grid of this confining tiles.
Powerful Tools for Good
Sometimes, you will encounter areas on the stage that are particularly difficult to clear. Thankfully, you have no fewer than three powerful tools at your disposal. You have to earn them, but they will certainly come in handy. For example, there is the leaf that can be deployed to clear the tiles within a certain area. By dragging a flower into the grid, you will magically transform all the jewels in that area into the same color. This makes it a lot easier to clear them away and potentially access previously inaccessible regions on the grid.
Further still, there are items that are oftentimes embedded into the grid of jewels themselves. These can clear out entire rows and columns, further paving the road to ridding the world of eternal winter and casting the evil January aside for good. Winter is fine, but we can't always be coated in snow!
Using Mighty Magic and More
As if the fantastic music and whimsical graphics in the puzzle stages were not enough to entertain you, there are also bonus mini-games interspersed throughout this adventure. Again led by your companion April, you will have the opportunity to use various magical tools to further unlock more artifacts. For example, the magic wand can be used to bring floral buds into full bloom. The same magic wand can be used to collect droplets of morning dew.
