A Pirate Love Tale
Movies like Pirates of The Caribbean have set the world afire with pirate fever and the computer gaming scene is the next victim of this madness. I introduce Spirit of Wandering: The Legend. You play the unnamed bride of a pirate captain named Jack. All is well in the world and you're actually set to wed on the bow of his ship, the Spirit of Wandering.
Things don't stay good for long however, as your ship is attacked by none other the legendary Flying Dutchman! The ghostly boat and its crew board the Spirit of Wandering and before you know it, you're waking up on the deck with the entire crew - including Jack, your love - nowhere in sight! All of their spirits have been trapped in the ghost world.
With the aid of a crystal orb that Jack gave you as an early wedding present, you set out to find and free all of their spirits!
Hunting for Ghosts and More
Spirit of Wandering is a hidden objects game and you'll search for more than just your crewmates! In each stage, you'll search for objects that are somehow linked to your lost crew and hopefully you'll be able to pull them back. In each level, you'll find five or six "normal" items and then you'll use your magical orb to find an item that was cherished my the crewmember. To use the orb, simply click on it the bottom left corner and move it around the screen, looking through it; it will start to glow as you near an item.
It's not that simple, however, as the cherished items fade in and out of reality. The best strategy is to hover over a spot that is glowing bright. Once the item fades in, if it's in the orb view at all, the entire orb will catch fire. Once this happens, it's just a matter of seeing the object and clicking on it.
After you find the cherished item, you'll get another list of regular objects. There are usually five special objects in a stage that you must find before you complete it. However, you can back out and go to a different location at any time.
It's also worth nothing that you can use your compass to point out hidden objects, but it costs 60 gold. You can get more gold by find objects, both special and not. There are also bonus stages where you can earn a lot of gold - as much as you can click on before time runs out!
Find Them All, One By One
Your first stop is Port Regal, where your lookout Khikaru once called home - even though that home was a prison cell. You're given two locations in the port to choose from and you simply click one and start looking!
Once you free Khikaru, it's off to the next crewmate.
A Seaworthy Adventure
Spirit of Wandering is a good game with a great theme. The mechanic of finding cherished items is unique and helps give you a fresh experience; not to mention it's tons of fun. It's always interesting to see which pirate will show up next and it gives you something to look forward to. It's a solid adventure that I can easily recommend.
