Some trivia games may focus on one particular genre, drawing on your knowledge of Hollywood films perhaps. This title is a little different. There is such a vast variety of questions that just about anyone will have a favorite category that they feel particular comfortable with, and let me tell you, there are many categories here for you to choose from.
The premise is fairly simple. The goal of each round is to ascend to the top of the ladder. You do this by answering questions correctly and accumulating points. You are given twenty turns at the beginning of a round in order to achieve this feat, and for each turn, you are presented with a choice between three difficulty levels: elementary, scholar, and genius. Each of these difficulties is randomly associated with one of many categories, including Sports, Geography, Music, History, Science, and more.
Get Those Gears in Motion
When you answer a question correctly, you receive the associated number of points (more difficult questions yield a higher score). While your ultimate goal is to reach the top of the ladder, you must first reach each checkpoint (or "rung") along the way. This is because with each incorrect response, you fall back down to the next lowest checkpoint.
A Little Elbow Grease Never Hurt
Each question is multiple choice, presenting four possible answers. When you're feeling particularly stumped, you can simply click on the button near the bottom to remove one of the possible responses. The price, however, is that should you get the question correct, you only receive 50% of the original number of points. You can remove two responses and receive 25% if you answer correctly.
Little Extras Go a Long Way
When it comes time to select your next category, you may notice that one of the possible choices comes with a little something extra. Sometimes a particular question will provide you with two extra turns if answered correctly. Other times you may get double points. One of the most exciting propositions, however, is when you have the opportunity to participate in a Lightning Round.
If you answer that question correctly, you will be wisped away to a side game where you must try to correctly respond to ten varied queries, all while fighting a sixty second clock. The questions answered here -- and the associated points -- go toward your cumulative total, but do not add (or retract) from your ladder progress.
