This is a word-forming game like none other. An Appetite with a Purpose
Whereas our good friend Lex the Bookworm had an insatiable appetite for letter tiles in previous incarnations of the Bookworm series, seemingly never quite satisfied with the size of his word-formed meal, he has a distinct quest before him in this offering. A powerful Oracle named Cassandra has been kidnapped and taken to a far away land. Lex must venture his way through the literature, literally pulled into a library of books as he fights against aggressive creatures and other monsters. Travel to Ancient Greece, the Island of the Cyclopes, and beyond, seeking out the Oracle. Be her knight in shining armor.
Who would have known that the unassuming Lex had such a fighting spirit within him? To attack the rabid wolves and overgrown ogres, you must spell words from the grid of 16 letters provided. Just as before, each word formed must be at least three letters in length and longer words issue greater damage. Lex starts out with just three "hearts" of energy, battling his way through the monsters. With each "attack", the beast will retaliate, taking some life out of our Bookworm. There are over 150 enemies in all.
Know No Bounds
Unlike previous Bookworm exploits, you need not link together adjacent tiles here. You can actually use any of the letters available to you in any order you'd like. Keep in mind that uncommon letters -- like Q, X, and Z -- offer more value or "attacking power" than common letters like T, R, and A. To maximize your score (and to vanquish those nasty enemies in a speedier fashion), try tacking on letters at the end of your words. For example, instead of "tin", make "tins", "tiny", or "tinier". Fairly often, you can add an -ER or -S at the end of words.
Unleash the Warrior Within
Spell doom for your enemies. The Adventure mode is probably where you'll be spending most of your time, saving Cassandra the Oracle and travelling through worlds unknown. But that's not where the action ends! Unleash the word-finding invertebrate within, throw on your best pair of glasses, and delve into a huge library of extras! There's also the Arena, Hall of Fame, Tome of Knowledge, and Mini Games sections to explore.
Bookworm Adventures Deluxe takes the lexicon-challenging puzzle gameplay we all know and love, surrounded it with a compelling story, and prettied it up with some amazing graphics and animations.
