The Challenge is Two-Fold
There are two primary steps that you'll need to take to play Flip Words:
1. Take a gander at the grid of letters and try to link together adjacent tiles to form words of the greatest length possible. Keep in mind that each word formed must be at least three letters in length, but they can be connected horizontally, vertically, diagonally, or any combination thereof. Short words help in the short run, but you'll want to form entries of greater length to get the highest score possible.
2. At the top of the game screen, there is a mystery phrase that you must unlock. When you form a word (in step one), the first letter of that word is revealed in this mystery phrase. For example, if you made the word "token", all the T's in the phrase would be made visible. This second part is, in a way, like Wheel of Fortune, as you are presented with a variety of categories, from famous places to famous faces.
Powering Up!
To make things even more interesting, there are seventeen unique power-ups to enjoy. Some of these increase your word score, others provide you with free letters in the mystery phrase... who knows what the other power-ups can do for you?
As there is no time limit, Flip Words is very much a game of strategy. You can't just go around forming any old word, because you have a limited number of turns. If you feel particularly stuck, you can use the "shuffle" function to rearrange the letters, but this uses up a turn. When you're ready, you can click on "guess phrase" to take a shot at the words at the top, but guess incorrectly and it'll cost you a turn. This is very much a thinking game (and a great one at that).
Vibrant and Animated
You'll be hard pressed to find a word game out there that is more colorful, more vibrant, and more vividly animated. The 3D graphics and effects are out of this world. The fun animations and sound effects will have you in stitches, and the gameplay will simply enrapture your imagination. Think you know it all? Think you can chain letters together like none other?
