Genie of the Lamp

If you stumbled across a genie in a lamp and you were granted three wishes, what would they be? Would you ask for riches? Romance? World peace? What if that mystical being was stripped of his powers and before he could grant you any wishes at all, you had to help him recover his abilities. This is the quest that you are charged with in Sandscript.

Use Words to Unlock Power

You are only allotted a certain amount of time at each of several locations scattered throughout the desert. At each destination, you will encounter many word puzzles. There is a mystery word that you must decipher based on a short, simple clue. The first letter is given to you, but you must guess the rest. Reveal this word and imbue the genie with more power.

There is a catch, of course, so you can't just haphazardly guess the missing letters. You are only allowed to get a certain number wrong, and the longer you take to reveal the word, the fewer points you will receive. You'll notice the genie flying from the right of the field to the left. The further right he is when you fully reveal the mystery word, the more bonus points you will be issued.

In many ways, Sandscript is similar to Wheel of Fortune. You guess the letters and hopefully reveal the hidden word. There are three tools or "charms" that can help you in your quest: one that reveals a vowel, one that reveals a missing letter, and one that eliminates a few incorrect letters. Use these sparingly as they are in limited supply.

Reveal the Mysteries of the Desert

Based on your performance in each scenario, you are eligible for a multitude of treasures. There are extra points to be had when you correctly select several letters in a row (side note: remember that you can simply type the letters on your keyboard rather than spend the extra time clicking on each one), complete a perfect word (no incorrect letter guesses), and successively reveal a word in a short amount of time.

The Sultan's Challenge

That's not all to this game! While the main word discovery section is incredibly entertaining on its own, you may be treated to an extra bonus stage if you perform exceptionally well. In the Sultan's Challenge, you must unscramble a set of letters to form a word. You can choose the length of this hidden word -- 3 to 7 letters -- with longer words providing more points. Again, you are "on the clock". Moreover, you are only allowed three incorrect guesses per word.

Travelling the Sands of Time

You begin your quest at the Lonely Pyramids, but who knows where your adventure will take you? As you uncover more treasure, your genie becomes more powerful, and soon... maybe, just maybe... he will grant your wishes. Believe me, it is certainly worth the effort (especially when the "effort" is soooo much fun!).
