Yee-Haw!
I've never been too enthralled with the cowboy way of life. Maybe it's my big city heart talkin', but it just doesn't feel right for me. But then Super Wild Wild Words came along, and changed my whole perception. Is this what the buckaroo way of life entailed - roping letters to form the longest words that you can? Were you constantly faced with tricky games of hangman? Boy howdy, maybe I was wrong, because this is sounding better by the minute!
You've never played a spelling game quite like this. Letter blocks fall from the top of the screen, and you're forced to spell out words faster than they can fill up. If a stack gets too high, you lose. Sounds pretty generic, so far? Well here's where it gets good: the letters don't have to be adjacent. That's right! The letters that you use to form the words do not have to be right next to each other.
Now, at first, this may seem too easy. You might think that since there are no restraints regarding letter location, this is just going to be a walk in the park (or the rodeo). Is that what you're thinking? Well guess again, buckaroo! At first, I feared that the game wouldn't be challenging at all, but will so many choices, I've never been so nervous in my life. When spelling games force you to only use adjacent letters, you're required to think, but your choices are usually clear. In Super Wild Words, however, your faced with a lot more choices, and therefore you'll have a harder time deciding. I can't remember how many times I found myself frantically dashing back and forth across the screen, looking for the longest word I could. Even when I found one, I remained convinced that there was one better. It was probably one of the best gaming experiences that I've had.
Hang'em High
There are numerous special items to be found in the game, and like everything else, they'll come from above. These items are activated once they hit the ground, so you have to take out all of the blocks underneath them. Dynamite, for instance, will explode when it hits bottom, taking out the bottom row. Gold will give you a load of extra points. Then there's the Sheriff's badge, which will give you a go at hangman.
Each level is accompanied by a game of hangman, and can only be completed once you discover the word. Every time a Sheriff's badge hits the bottom, you get to choose a letter. Traditional hangman rules apply: pick a wrong letter and a body part is added to the poor soul that's being hung. There are items in the game that can aid you. Medical boxes will erase one body part from your man, while keys will automatically give you one free letter in the puzzle.
A Rootin' Tootin' Good Time
Super Wild Wild Words is fantastic fun anyway you look at it. It's bound to give you a run for your money, especially when a little stick figure is in danger of getting a noose around his neck. If this is what cowboy life is like, sign me up!
